Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common hormonal conditions in the U.S. In fact, it affects between 6-12% of women of reproductive age. PCOS is a condition that is often marked by elevated blood sugar levels and androgens such as testosterone and DHEA. Symptoms of PCOS include:

The thyroid gland can have a major impact on our overall health and wellness and dysfunction of the thyroid is significantly more common in women. It can affect our energy levels, brain function, menstrual cycle, heart health, bone health, and more. Thyroid disease can cause a low-functioning thyroid (hypothyroidism) or an over-function thyroid (hyperthyroidism).

Hypothyroidism is most common and causes too little thyroid hormone to be produced. This can result in symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, joint pain, dry skin, hair loss, irregular menstrual cycles, and constipation.

Hyperthyroidism, on the other hand, is a condition in which the thyroid gland is overactive, producing too much thyroid hormone. This can result in symptoms such as weight loss, increased appetite, sweating, heart palpitations, anxiety, diarrhea, heat intolerance, irregular menstrual cycles, and rapid heart rate.
