What is naturopathic pediatric medicine?

Naturopathic pediatric medicine combines evidence-based medicine with a holistic approach to support the health and development of children. At Natural Kid Doc, we focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness while supporting the body’s natural ability to heal and thrive.

Our approach emphasizes prevention, nutrition, lifestyle support, nervous system health, gut health, and thoughtful use of both natural and conventional therapies when appropriate.

How is Natural Kid Doc different from a traditional pediatric office?

Our practice is designed to provide more personalized, relationship-centered pediatric care. We intentionally spend more time with families, focus on prevention and whole-child wellness, and aim to understand the full picture of your child’s health.

As a membership-based practice, we are able to offer:

  • Longer visits
  • Same-day or next-day sick visits when available
  • Direct communication through our secure portal
  • More proactive guidance and support
  • A calmer, less rushed experience for families

We believe pediatric care should feel collaborative, thoughtful, and supportive.

Do you still use conventional medicine when needed?

We practice integrative pediatric medicine, which means we consider both natural and conventional treatment options depending on what is best for the child.

We often begin with gentle, supportive approaches when appropriate, but we also prescribe medications, order labs, and recommend conventional treatments or referrals when medically necessary.

Our goal is always to provide safe, thoughtful, individualized care.

What conditions do you commonly support?

We provide pediatric primary care and support children with a wide variety of health concerns, including:

  • Wellness and preventive care
  • Acute illnesses (ear infections, coughs/colds, rashes, diarrhea etc)
  • Allergies
  • Eczema and skin concerns
  • Digestive concerns
  • Nutrition and feeding challenges
  • Sleep concerns
  • Behavioral and developmental support
  • ADHD and neurodivergent support
  • Immune health concerns
  • Chronic or complex health issues

If you are unsure whether our practice is a good fit for your child, our team is happy to help guide you.

Why did Natural Kid Doc transition to a membership model?

We transitioned to a membership model so we can provide more personalized, accessible, and relationship-centered pediatric care. This model allows our doctors to spend more time with families, offer more responsive support, provide same-day or next-day sick visits when possible, and focus on proactive wellness rather than reactive care.

Our goal is to create a pediatric experience where families feel supported, heard, and truly cared for.

Is Natural Kid Doc a membership-only practice?

Yes. Natural Kid Doc is a membership-based pediatric practice.

Rather than offering one-time or transactional visits, all patients are enrolled in a membership program so we can provide consistent, comprehensive support and continuity of care.

What membership options do you offer?

We currently offer two paths:

Wellness Membership

Designed for children who are generally well and looking for:

  • Pediatric primary care
  • Wellness visits
  • Sick visits
  • Preventive and lifestyle-focused support

Path to Wellness

Designed for children with more ongoing, chronic, or complex health concerns who may benefit from:

  • Deeper investigation into root causes
  • Advanced testing
  • Longer-term support
  • More comprehensive care plans

Our team can help determine which option is the best fit for your child.

Is there a minimum commitment?

There is a 6 month minimum commitment for the wellness membership. The Path to Wellness programs have a 6-12 month commitment depending on which program is the best fit for your child.

Is there a joining fee?

There is a $150 joining fee for the first child, $100 for the second child and waived for the 3rd or more children.

What’s included in the Wellness Membership?

Membership benefits may vary slightly based on age and membership type, but generally include:

  • Age-appropriate comprehensive wellness exams
  • Same-day or next-day sick visits when available
  • In-office, phone, and telehealth support
  • Secure portal messaging with care team
  • Vaccine-only visits if desired
  • Access to the Natural Kid Doc Parent Resource Library
  • Longer, relationship-centered visits

Our goal is to provide families with accessible, proactive pediatric care throughout the year.

Do you offer newborn care?

Yes. We offer two options for newborns, our Baby Wellness Membership or the Tiny Treasures Newborn Concierge Program.

We love supporting families during the newborn stage and throughout infancy. Our newborn care includes wellness visits, feeding support, developmental guidance, nutrition education, and ongoing parent support during the first year of life. Families are welcome to join before delivery to establish care for their newborn.

If you are interested in prenatal support and more extensive support during the newborn stage visit our Tiny Treasures Newborn Concierge page for more details!

What is the Path to Wellness Program?

Path to Wellness is our more comprehensive care program for children with ongoing or complex health concerns.

This program is designed for families seeking deeper investigation and long-term support for chronic or multifactorial issues.

Recommendations may include:

  • Advanced laboratory testing
  • Nutrition and lifestyle support
  • Supplement recommendations
  • Nervous system and gut health support
  • Ongoing follow-up and guidance

How do I know if my child needs the Path to Wellness Program?

If your child has more persistent or complex health concerns, our team may recommend a discovery call or consultation to determine the best fit.

The Wellness Membership is appropriate for many children, while Path to Wellness is intended for children who may benefit from more extensive support and care planning.

Do you accept insurance?

Natural Kid Doc is a cash-pay membership practice and does not bill insurance for office visits. This allows us to spend more time with families and focus on personalized care without insurance limitations.

Some families still keep insurance for emergencies and specialists. Labs/Imaging may sometimes be billed through insurance depending on the lab.

Can I use HSA/FSA funds?

Yes! Many families choose to use their HSA or FSA funds towards the membership. We recommend checking with your specific plan provider regarding eligibility.

Are labs and supplements included?

Labs and supplements are not included in the Wellness Membership. Some families use insurance for basic labs that may be recommended.

Some specialty lab testing is included in the Path to Wellness Program. Supplements are not included.

How long are appointments?

We intentionally schedule longer visits so we can better understand the full picture of your child’s health and provide thoughtful, individualized care. Visit lengths vary depending on the appointment type and your child’s needs, but most range from 30-60 minutes.

How does communication work between visits?

Members have secure portal access to communicate with their provider and care team for quick questions, updates, and guidance between visits.

If concerns become more complex or require more in-depth medical decision-making, we may recommend scheduling a follow-up visit so we can provide the most thorough and supportive care possible.

Do you offer telehealth visits?

Yes. Telehealth visits are available for many follow-up appointments, educational visits, and certain acute concerns when appropriate.

Can I message my doctor directly?

Yes. Families can communicate with our team through the secure patient portal. Our providers do their best to respond in a timely manner during business hours.

What is your philosophy on vaccines?

We believe vaccine decisions are personal and should involve thoughtful, informed discussions between families and their healthcare provider. Our role is to provide education, answer questions, and support families in making decisions that feel right for their child.

Do you offer vaccines in your office?

Yes. We offer vaccines in our office for families who choose to vaccinate.

Do you support alternative vaccine schedules?

We understand that families have different perspectives and preferences regarding vaccines. Our providers are happy to have respectful conversations and help families make informed decisions regarding vaccination schedules. They can also help you develop an alternative vaccination schedule for your child.

How do I become a patient?

The first step is to contact our office so our team can help determine which membership option is the best fit for your child and family. We will then guide you through enrollment and scheduling.

What should I expect on the first visit?

Your first visit is designed to help us understand your child’s health history, current concerns, lifestyle, development, and overall wellness goals. We take a comprehensive and collaborative approach so families feel heard, supported, and empowered.

Can I schedule a discovery call or learn more before joining?

Yes. Depending on your child’s needs, our team may recommend a discovery call or consultation to help determine the best path forward.
